A successful 20-year battle to preserve and protect the historic Cooley-Hatt pioneer family cemetery in Ancaster was recognized with an Ontario Historical Society award to three key warriors in the fight 鈥?including Rick Hatt, great-great-great grandson of the man credited with establishing Dundas.The Cooley-Hatt cemetery was discovered to hold the remains of an estimat <a href=https://www.stanley-cup.co.nz>stanley cup nz</a> ed 100 United Empire Loyalists, including Richard Hatt 1769-1819 , a War of 1812 veteran and owner of Dundas Mills 鈥?near today Governor Road and Hatt Street 鈥?and his wife, Mary Cooley 1758-1816 . Their descendants led the two-decade long effort to stop developers from relocating the remains. It was an education for great-great-great grandson Hatt. Laws are not in place to protect these sites and the developers know that. The only protection is family members, if they are notified, Hatt said.
