Odzp Trump says newspaper shooting shocked the conscience of our nation
An end to the government shutdown and debt ceiling crisis appears to have done little to heal the divisions within the Republican Party as they prepare fo botella stanley r budget negotiations with Democrats in the coming months.GOP lawmakers are still at odds over whether the strategy to shut down the government over Obamacare was a good one, how to battle the law going forward, and what they want out of a long-term budget. I am confident that the party of Ronald Reagan will come back strong. We ll get a positive agenda. We ll get an agenda that unites the party, and we can move forward. I am absolutely confident of that, said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., on CNN s State of the Un stanley cup ion. There are a number of issues to overcome first. The divisions are particularly exemplified with Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who helped precipitate the shutdown s stanley flask trategy with a 21-hour floor speech he delivered against the health care law in September. His fellow Republicans remain highly critical of the strategy as an impossible feat. The tactic of defunding the government, unless <Mr> Obama] repealed his signature issue, was as poorly designed as Obamacare care itself, almost, said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., on CBS Face the Nation. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, for his part, pledged that there would not be another government shutdown because he didn t view it as good conservative policy. I don t think a two-week paid vacation for federal employees is Aapa Speech time spat stemmed from allure of address to Congress
The Senate is expected to vote on the economic stimulus package Friday evening, Sen. Harry Reid announced Thursday. The vote was expected to begin at about 7:00 p.m. Eastern. A 60-vote threshold is required to pass the legislation long-sought by President Obama. Democrats pushing for the plan s passage now have the 60 votes they need, even without Sen. Ted Kennedy, who was not expected to attend the session. Fifty-seven Democrats are onboard, and three Republicans; Susan Collins, R-ME, Olympia Snowe, R-ME, and Arlen Specter, R-PA. It is expected to be a very long vote because the Senate will wait for Democratic Sen stanley cup website ator Sherrod Brown of Ohio, who will be returning from his home state where stanley mug funeral proceedings are being held for his mother. ponent--type-recirculation .item:nth-child 5 display: none; inline-recirc-item--id-d16d2d90-8c88-11e2-b06b-024c619f5c3d, right-rail-recirc-item--id-d16d2d90-8c88-11e2-b06b-024c619f5c3d display: none; inline-recirc-ite stanley fr m--id-d16d2d90-8c88-11e2-b06b-024c619f5c3d ~ .item:nth-child 5 display: block; Tucker Reals Tucker Reals is the CBSNews foreign editor, based at the CBS News London bureau.
