Preside stanley puodelis nt Obama congratulated the Baltimore Ravens on their Super Bowl XLVII victory Wednesday on the South Lawn of the White House, donning a purple tie to honor the team s color. In the Super Bowl, just when it looked like they had the momentum, the lights went out for a half an hour, Mr. Obama said, recalling the infamous blackout that hit the Superdome in New Orleans during the third quarter of the Super Bowl in February. But these Ravens always pull through. Noting the half hour power outage, Mr. Obama highlighted the athleticism the Ravens demonstrated as they held off their opponents, the San Francisco 49ers, in the second half en route to a 34-31 victory.Super Bowl 2013: Ravens withstand 49ers rally and power outage, surge to championship New York Giants continue White House traditionDetailing myriad philanthropy efforts that Raven stanley cup s players spearhead, Mr. Obama thanked the team for their work on and offthe football field. Day after day you ll see a team that loves Baltimore as much as Baltimore loves the Ravens, Mr. Obama said.Ravens head coach John Harbaugh gave the president a Ravens jersey with the number 44 Mr. Obama is the nation s 44th president and a black, short-sleeved half-zip with the Ravens logo. We have plans to be back next year, Harbaugh said.Mr. Obama continued the presidential tradition hosting Super Bowl winners - among other professional sports champions - at th botella stanley e White House. The chattering class and the conventional wisdom have it that the presidential race has been over since about two weeks ago and John McCain is toast.Reading the national poll numbers, and even most maps of the electoral vote, it certainly seems that way. I refuse to prognosticate in even the most obvious of races. And I refuse to do so in this presidential race as I ve been wrong at leas stanley cup t a half-dozen times since the summer of 07 when the media declared Hillary Clinton the presumptive Democratic nominee. The New York Times reports Sen. McCain s advisers still maintain there s a path to victory for his campaign, and I guess that s what s keeping them going at stanley en mexico this point in time. Check it out: Mr. McCain s advisers said the key to victory was reeling back those Republican states where Mr. Obama has them on the run: Florida, where Mr. McCain spent Thursday; Indiana; Missouri; North Carolina; Ohio; and Virginia. If he can hang on to all those states as well as others that are reliably red, he would put into his column 260 of the 270 electoral votes necessary to win. Mr. McCain s advisers said they would look for the additional electoral votes they need either by taking Pennsylvania from the Democrats, or putting together some combination of Colorado, Nevada, New Hampshire and New Mexico. All I can say is if McCain were to win, we d all better get used to hearing the phrase, my friends as he s annoyingly using it about every third sentence. stanley cup becher
