A man who was wanted for attempted first-degree murder after he shot his estranged wife has been arrested in Ringgold, Ga.James Winnie, 38, was found in the Super 8 Motel in Ringgold and was taken into custody without incident, according to a release from the Chattanooga Police Department. Authorities also found 1 oz of methamphetamine in the hotel room. Officers were originally dispatched to the 3100 block of 6th avenue for a domestic disturbance call on Saturday. When they arrived, police found the victim, 27-year-old Jessica Winnie suffering from a gunshot wound. The defendant allegedly drove to the home and started an argument with the victim and her brother which escalated into a shooting. Her injury was non-life-threatening and she was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The suspect had left the scene before police arrival.
