What should we do if we are going to miss a practice/ game?

If you are sick, or not attending, please email Info@recitvolleyball.com with the athlete's name in the subject followed by the word absent/ sick. (example: Amber Rauh: Absent). In your email, please clearly indicate the dates that you will be absent. Please do your best to inform us early, so we can plan accordingly.

If I am going on a vacation and will miss practice days, do I get a make-up, reinbursment, or specail attention from coaches to catch up?

A vacation is a planned event that you should consider while you purchase our programs. Before signing up for the program, give us a call (732)-520-3905 or email us info@recitvolleyball.com if there are any scheduling conflicts. Our staff will do their best to accommodate your needs. We book our court rentals one year in advance to ensure that that we have enough programs for you.  Once a program starts, there isn’t very much that our staff can do to accommodate you. Our programs sell out and we want to preserve the quality of our programs, so we do not allow make-ups. If an athlete misses a practice the coaches will do their best to help them feel comfortable catching up. Our coaches will not give a private lesson/spend excessive time with the athlete because they missed the practice. Consider the athletes learning needs. If they are shy or need the extra attention when they miss a class, check to see if we have another program that you will not miss.

Your program is SOLD-OUT. What do we need to consider?

We put new programs on the website every 6-8 weeks. To preserve the quality of our programs, we will not add athletes once the program is sold out.

1. Please do not show up on the start day of the program with money. If they are not on the list, they are not practicing.

2. Please do not call us to ask to open a spot. We will happily recommend a similar program that is available, but will not add players into a sold out program.

3. If a location has two programs (Middle School and High School), and the High school program is sold out, Please do not sign-up your high school athlete for the middle school program with the hopes of getting into the high school program. You will participate in the program that you sign-up for or get a refund.  We do not accept on- site registrations.

4.   If your child has friends in the program and one didn’t make it in, if we are sold out, we cannot add in the friend. Please be sure to coordinate with all parents involved. Call us at (732)-520-3905 prior to signing up to confirm that we have space for the entire friend group.

How do you accommodate athletes who are 10 and under?

Most 10 and under athletes may not have the strength to play with a regular ball. We have special balls that are lighter. We also have a lower net to help build their confidence on the court. Most of these athletes are brand new to the sport and we want to focus on building the love for the sport.

What ball does REC It Volleyball use in each program?

  • Middle School Practice programs and Leagues: Tachikara Volley- Lite Training Volleyball SV- MNC
  • High School Practice programs, leagues, boys programs: Tachikara  Sensi-Tec Composite Volleyball  SV-5WSC
  • Adult Volleyball: Molten FLISTATEC Volleyball V5M5000

What should athletes wear to practice?

We want all athletes to feel comfortable when they are learning. Athletes can wear any athletic clothing, including, t-shirts, athletic pants, and athletic shorts. Athletes under 18 need to take out all jewelry. If it is Brand new, and you cannot take it out, you must cover it with a band-aid or medical tape. There are only a few things that are mandatory.

ATHLETES MUST WEAR:

  • Athletic clothing
  • Sneakers
  • Hair out of their face
  • Kneepads

Do I have to go out and buy Volleyball sneakers for this program?

-Athletes must wear sneakers to step on the court and participate during practice. Athletes can wear any sneakers. They must have laces and fit their feet. Please ensure that the sneakers are sturdy and not made of stretchy material. Most volleyball sneakers are lighter because the athletes jump a lot during games.

-If you plan on getting volleyball-specific sneakers and committing to more competitive play, we suggest getting them in a half size bigger. Many athletes say that their toes hurt when they have shoes that are their actual size. When athletes play, the quick directional changes can put a lot of pressure on their toes and cause pain. This is just a recommendation and advice from many adult volleyball players who have experienced this issue.

How high will the net be?

Middle School Co-ed Programs: 7 foot 4 1/8 inches (Women's Height) we also have a badminton net for programs with athletes who are 8 and under.

Middle School Boys Pragrams:  7 foot 11 5/8 inches (Men's Height)

High School Girls Programs: 7 foot 4 1/8 inches (Women's Height)

High school Boys Programs: 7 foot 11 5/8 inches (Men's Height)

Adult Co-ed: 7 foot 11 5/8 inches (Men's Height)

Adult Men's: 7 foot 11 5/8 inches (Men's Height)

Adult Women's: 7 foot 4 1/8 inches (Women's Height)

What is your policy for make-up days if the athlete gets COVID?

We have adjusted our prices assuming that each student will miss one practice day. If you are registering for a 6-week program you are paying for only 5 practices. If you come to all 6 sessions, you get a complementary practice.

If I arrive late, go to the incorrect practice location, or miss my league game, do I get reimbursed.

We clearly state the practice times, locations, and league schedules on the registration page. It is your responsibility to know the details of the event that you register for. We will not compensate you for missed practices/ games and tardiness.

Phone Policy:

Athletes under 18 years old should not have their phones out at any point during practice time, including during water breaks. We are not responsible for any cracked phones. If an athlete is expecting a phone call or a text, their parent/ guardian must email us at info@recitvolleyball.com with the athlete’s name in the description. We do not need to know the reason, but we need to know that they will need to periodically check their phone.

Parent/ Guardian Spectator Policy

Metuchen Sportsplex: Parents/guardians are allowed to spectate but cannot coach. As a result, many athletes become confused because the advice from parents/guardians can contradict what the coaches say.  This is your time to sit back and relax; you deserve it! There are bleachers provided by the facility, but you can bring a portable chair for more comfort. All Parents/ Guardians must remain behind the glass during practice.

All Season Sports Academy: Parents/guardians are allowed to spectate but cannot coach. As a result, many athletes become confused because the advice from parents/guardians can contradict what the coaches say.  This is your time to sit back and relax; you deserve it! There are chairs provided by the facility, but you can bring a portable chair for more comfort. Most Parents/ Guardians remain behind the glass during practice but we do allow them to sit on the perimeter of the sports court. If parents talk/coach/instruct athletes (including their own athletes) during drills we will ask them to leave the sports court and sit in the lobby behind the glass.

Clifton Sports and Fitness Club: Parents/guardians are allowed to spectate but cannot coach.

ADULT PROGRAMS ONLY:

If I am going to miss practice can I send a substitute player?

You can send a substitute player. They must be equal in level to you and brought up to speed. The coaches will help the sub during the practice but they are instructed to give them the same amount of instruction that you would have gotten. If the coaches are spending the majority of the practice catching your sub up, then it takes away from all of the other paying athletes. The sub must have a profile on our website with the liability form signed before playing.
